The Japanese white pine (Pinus parviflora or Pinus pentaphylla) belongs to the pine genus (Pinus) and comes from Japan.

Under optimal conditions, in its wild form it can reach a height of up to 25 metres there. Pinus parviflora variety Negishi however is a dwarf form and grows very slowly and is therefore also popular for bonsai design.

It is one of the most popular bonsai plants due to its gnarled appearance and the fine, dense, blue-green needles. The tree is also popular in parks and public gardens as a specimen plant or in smaller groups.

Pinus Parviflora is not as robust as Pinus Thunbergii and is therefore often grafted onto black pines or Pinus Strobus. Our Pinus parviflora are grafted, the rootstock is Pinus Thunbergii, which are much better suited to the European climate.
